Why PDX Divas is offering Net Profit Sharing

Since the launch of PDX Divas in 2021, our work has been focused on documenting and highlighting PERFORMERS that exude a spirit of expression that is unique to our existence in this reality and time. Documenting so many incredible performances over the years has resulted in a massive archive of media that we would like to make accessible in perpetuity, so that our current and future community has a wealth of media that represents them in an authentic manner.

In 2025, the PDX Divas YouTube account became eligible to monetize, but we wanted to make sure we figured out the best way of including our community of Divas in this process. Running PDX Divas has a pretty significant cost for our team, both in terms of our time at shows, editing, managing our social accounts, and in terms of real expenses to keep terabytes of videos stored at the highest quality possible. At the same time, we recognize that our community of Divas have time and expense costs as well. In 2026, we started trialing our Patreon account to potentially help cover some of the expenses that we have incurred over the years and will continue to have as the project carries on; but we know that this cannot happen without the very community we have supported.

This agreement outlines net profit sharing between PDX Divas, LLC and individual PERFORMERS featured in merch items, and media published via our distribution platforms. (YouTube, Patreon, Meta, TikTok, BlueSky, etc.)

Getting Profit Share Points

Every PERFORMER that is a primary focus of a video is entitled to 1 point of Profit Sharing in the Performer Pool, as long as they contributed substantively to the performance. Appearances that last less than 25% of a performance, or that are the result of being brought into performance as an audience member do not qualify a PERFORMER to a profit-share point for a video, though they are entitled to a profit-share point from sales if they are a primary focus of a photo that is used for merch.

Net Profit Share (NPS) Pool Structure

Performer Pool: 50% of net profit for a given piece of media or merch item
Production Pool: 50% of net profit for a given piece of media or merch item

The Performer Pool includes eligible PERFORMERS featured in the media/on the merch, while the Production Pool includes eligible PDX Divas team members that created/edited/produced the audio/visual recording or merch design for PDX Divas.

How Profit Share Points Become Profit

Once the sum of the net profit pool is calculated, profit-share points are totaled, then the sum of the net profit pool is divided by the total points in that pool. The result of this calculation is then multiplied by each person’s points to find their share of their net profit pool.

Generally, if you’re doing a solo performance, you would be entitled to 100% of the Performer Pool NPS for a given Media or Merch item.

Tax Liability

PERFORMERS are typically considered independent contractors as they are not hired as employees by PDX Divas, as such, PERFORMERS are liable for any taxes that may apply to their NPS payouts. As long as a PERFORMER's annual payouts remain below $1000, a 1099 may not be filed by PDX Divas. However, PDX Divas may be required to withhold 24% of your NPS if a valid TIN is not provided upon request by the IRS. The threshold at which we may need a valid TIN to report to the IRS may be lower than $1000. In such an event, your NPS payouts may be held until a valid TIN is provided via a W-9.

Payment Threshold

In order to get paid, your account must meet our minimum payout threshold of $25, and have a valid payout method chosen for your account. There must also be no holds, violations, or disqualifications on your account.

Cancellation Threshold

If you decide to cancel this NPS Agreement or disable monetization, your account must meet the cancellation threshold of $10 to receive your final payout. You’ll get paid within 90 days of the end of the cancellation month as long as your account has no holds/violations/disqualifications, and you have completed all steps to get paid prior to canceling.

Grant Program

You can change what percentage of your NPS to gift to the PDX Divas grant program at any time, however any portion that has already been deducted from your NPS balance cannot be returned to you.
The PDX Divas grant program is presently non-tax-deductible.

Agreement Updates

PDX Divas may make updates to this agreement at any time, you will be notified when an updated agreement is ready. You will have the option to accept or decline agreement updates. Choosing to decline agreement updates may result in de-monetization and cancellation of any currently accepted agreement.

Getting Paid

The payout process uses third-party payment platforms. We may be required to share personal information such as your legal name, date of birth, and contact information when using these platforms to pay out your NPS balance. Payouts do not occur automatically at present. You must sign in to your PDX Divas account to request a payout once you have passed the payment threshold.

How YouTube Monetization Works

YouTube (YT) allows us to monetize only a handful of full performance videos due to music copyrights. However, the ones that are eligible to monetize (which includes most YT Shorts), are done so in two different ways: either the music rights holder allows for a revenue share with PDX Divas, or the video’s entire revenue is distributed to the PDX Divas YouTube account. In order for the PDX Divas YouTube account to transfer funds to our main payment account, the revenue accrued must be above the minimum withdrawal threshold for YouTube. Because of this, there can be longer wait times for profit shares generated via YouTube if views are lower than typical.

As YouTube does not allow control over individual YT Short monetization, all shorts are monetized when YT deems them eligible. If you no longer want a YT Short to be monetized after it is posted, you must contact the PDX Divas about the specific YT Short so that we can de-list the short. Manual de-listing can take up to 14 days.

How Patreon Monetization Works

Members of the PDX Divas Patreon get early access to a majority of the videos that are published, as well as exclusive access to certain content, including behind-the-scenes looks at the editing process, photos, and select performance videos.

For videos, there are two possible revenue paths: when YouTube allows for a full video to be posted on their platform, we offer Early Access to Patreon Members. If YouTube does not allow the video to be posted on their platform due to music copyright claims, those videos may be exclusively published to Patreon in full for members-only access.

PERFORMERS will receive profit sharing from our Patreon during the Early Access period for eligible videos. If the video is eligible for YouTube Monetization, our YouTube monetization agreement takes over after the early access period has ended.

For Patreon exclusive media, PERFORMERS will receive NPS based on viewership during the lifespan of the post on Patreon.

Group Performances

By default, Group Performance media is monetized unless all PERFORMERS within the group have monetization disabled. Individual PERFORMERS that have disabled monetization would forfeit their NPS for the Group Performance; their NPS would be redirected to the PDX Divas grant program in this scenario.

No Generative AI

For ethical reasons, PDX Divas is committed to NOT using generative AI (genAI) on any of the media we produce. Any use of genAI by PERFORMERS on media created by PDX Divas may result in disqualification from the NPS Agreement, and a permanent ban from the PDX Divas community.

Media Release

By accepting this NPS Agreement, you grant PDX Divas the use of your likeness in promotional material and on project-related platforms and services; including, but not limited to, the PDX Divas & Tix Divas websites, YouTube, Patreon, Instagram, TikTok, BlueSky.

Disqualifications

PERFORMERS may be disqualified from future payouts if they are abusive or threatening to members of the PDX Divas team and/or community. In this scenario, we may choose to remove media and merch items featuring the PERFORMER from all platforms and stores. Any un-paid profit shares will be forfeit by the PERFORMER and redirected to the PDX Divas grant program.

Ghosting

Upon the passing of a PERFORMER (or after 24 months of inability to make contact), all current and continuing PERFORMER profit shares will be redirected to the PDX Divas grant program. PERFORMERS that make contact after this period may receive profit shares again, but will have forfeit their shares that have already been redirected to the PDX Divas grant program.

Non-acceptance

This agreement has been written to build a sustainable future for our community. However, we do understand this may not be what all PERFORMERS would like to happen with media we have previously collaborated on. In the event that you do not accept this agreement, for legal reasons, we will likely have to pull all media (solo and group acts) presently published that contains your likeness. We will always respect the choice of a PERFORMER to not participate in the PDX Divas project.

While we do not presently sell merch, we may begin to this year (2026)! If you are wanting to be featured on future merch, please let us know below. Selected PERFORMERS will get to approve any merch designs before release.
